Everything you need to know
From timers to subscriptions, here is how EstudyLog works. If you don’t see your question, reach out—real humans answer.
General
Who is EstudyLog for?
Students who need proof of progress: pre-med, engineering, law, business, high school AP/IB, bootcamps, and anyone juggling multiple courses or exams.
Is the app free?
Yes, you can download it free on the App Store.
Which devices does it support?
EstudyLog is built for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17.6 and above. Your sessions, courses, and grades sync across your devices.
Do I need internet to track a session?
No. You can start and stop timers offline. When you reconnect, we sync your data and update your analytics automatically.
Timers & Sessions
Do timers stop if I close the app?
No. You can start a timer, close the app completely, and put your phone away to focus. When you finish, just open the app and stop the session. The timer runs in the background automatically.
Does EstudyLog support Live Activity?
No. Live Activity can be buggy for long study timers, and we try to keep EstudyLog as distraction-free and reliable as possible.
Is it possible to have the timer synced on my iPhone and iPad?
No. While your study history and stats sync across all devices, the active timer only runs on the device you started it on.
Can EstudyLog add my study sessions to my iPhone Calendar?
Yes. Go to Settings and turn on Auto-sync new sessions. EstudyLog will create a separate calendar called EstudyLog in the iPhone Calendar app and add new saved study sessions there, so you can look back through your study days from your regular calendar.
I saved a session, but my Insights didn't update.
Don't worry, your data is saved safely. Sometimes the calculation engine takes a moment. Just relaunch the app, and your dashboard charts will populate fully.
Do Insights use AI to find patterns?
No. Insights are deterministic—fully based on your logged data. Each card shows a confidence indicator so you can see how reliable the patterns are for your current data volume.
I have a hard time understanding the Time of Day chart.
Walk through the chart and how to use it inside Insights in our Biological Peak Hours guide.
Can I add notes to a session while the timer is running?
Yes. Tap the active Timer Card on the dashboard to open the session details. You can add notes there without stopping the clock.
Courses & Outlines
I created a course but forgot to add the outline/topics.
Go to the Courses tab, swipe left on the course you want to update, and tap Edit. Add or update the outline/topics, then make sure you save your changes.
What is a valid course outline?
A valid course outline should come from your syllabus and list the real topics you will cover in the course. Avoid vague labels like Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 by themselves; include the actual chapter or unit names, such as Cell Biology, Chemical Bonding, or Supply and Demand.
The automatic topic extraction isn't accurate.
If the auto-parsing fails, you can add topics manually in the Course Edit screen. Just type your topics separated by commas (e.g., "Cells, Mitosis, Genetics") and we will format them correctly.
I want to delete a course but I can't find the button.
To protect your study history (total hours and sessions), courses cannot be fully deleted. Instead, you can Archive it. Tap the "Play" button on the Course screen and change the status to "Archived" or "Completed."
Does archiving a course wipe out my total hours?
No. Archiving simply hides the course from your active Courses. All your session data and total hours remain saved in your analytics.
Goals & Coverage
I added a goal but I don't see the progress bar.
The progress bar requires a specific deadline. Make sure you have set a Final Exam Date in the "edit course" rather than just a general goal.
How is the goal for each topic calculated?
We infer the time needed based on the days remaining until your Final Exam. If you haven't set an exam date, we estimate the end of the semester based on your timezone. For accuracy, please set a Final Exam date.
Where is the Daily Plan / Spaced Repetition feature?
In version 1.3, we deprecated the old Daily Plan and replaced it with the new Insights engine. If you used that feature heavily, please reach out to us—we are collecting feedback.
Account & Billing
I deleted the app. How do I cancel my subscription?
Deleting the app does not cancel the billing. You must go to your iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, find EstudyLog, and cancel it there.
How do I upgrade from Monthly to Annual?
Open the EstudyLog app, go to Settings > Manage Subscriptions, and tap "See All Plans." You can switch your plan there.
I bought a subscription but the app didn't upgrade me.
We are sorry for the glitch. Please email support@estudylog.com immediately, and we will manually fix your status.
How do I delete my account and all data?
Go to your Settings, scroll down, and request account deletion. Your account will be deleted in 7 days if you do not log back in; logging back in during those 7 days cancels the request.
I used to be Premium but now I can't add sessions.
If your subscription expired, you are now on the Free tier, which has a limit on the number of active sessions/courses. You will need to resubscribe to unlock unlimited logging.
I can't purchase the app in my country.
Please email support@estudylog.com. We may be able to provide an alternative solution for your region.
I accidentally gave a bad rating. How can I fix it?
If you'd like to update your review, search for EstudyLog in the App Store, scroll down to "Ratings & Reviews," and tap the stars to update your rating. We appreciate it!
Still stuck? Email support@estudylog.com. We usually respond within one business day.
